Future of Golf and Golf Instruction

The future of golf is not clear. Many say the game and market are in decline. Some say that only the richest courses will survive being supported by the '1-percenters.' This all may be true. But then again, golf has been changing mostly due to technology since its inception. So the question may be, "How is golf changing today?" Well, we know that clubs and ball technology is making it so the average 20 year old golfer has the strength to hit a ball 300 yards or more. But technology changing the game in more profound ways.

In the future, you will be able to play golf indoors. Ball tracking technology (launch monitors) and simulators (both for practice and play) will serve a number of needs:

* Practice and play at night
* Practice and play during winter and rainy weather
* Immediate accurate feedback for practice sessions
* Time saving as no need to walk or ride between shots
* Better comfort at all times
    * Premium food and drink
    * Big Screen sports viewing

We have already seen these changes at places like Top Golf and Golftec. But as the price of technology decreases and the power increases (see Microsoft HoloLens we will see indoor golf bays start popping up all over the place.

But then again, I could be wrong. What do you think? Share your vision of golf's future in the comments below.
